Battery Capacity Test

To perform this test, use a high-rate discharge tester, Rotunda Alternator, Regulator, Battery and Starter Tester (ARBST) 010-00725 or equivalent, in conjunction with Rotunda 88 Digital Multimeter 105-R0053 or equivalent.
1. Turn the ARBST 010-00725 on. Connect the positive test lead to the positive battery post and the negative test lead to the negative battery post.
2. Initiate test by pushing the battery test button on the ARBST unit. The test will be performed automatically.
3. If battery tests good, it has a good output capacity and will readily accept a charge.
4. If battery tests bad, it is defective and must be replaced.
5. If battery test result is charge and retest, charge the battery to capacity and repeat procedure.
6. If the battery is found to be discharged only, check for a loose drive belt, loose electrical connection, charging system performance, and perform a battery drain test. [1][2]Drain Test
