Flow of Diagnosis
1. Verify the customer concern by operating the ignition switch.NOTE: If a binding condition occurs, turn the steering wheel left or right to release the possible load on the ignition switch and verify the ignition key is cut properly.
2. Visually inspect the following components of the ignition switch system:
Mechanical
^ Binding condition.
^ Key does not turn.
^ Cannot remove key.
^ Damaged release on steering lock.
^ Damaged cable from gearshift lever (Automatic)
Electrical.
^ Blown fuse: 80A MAIN.
^ Shorted wire(s).
^ Damaged connection(s).
^ Damaged ignition switch.
4. Repair any damage found.
5. If no concerns are readily identified, proceed to Diagnosis by Symptom. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
