Gear Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

TRANSMISSION POSITION SWITCH, M/T






REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the park/neutral position (PNP) switch electrical connector.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.





3. Use an open-end wrench to remove the PNP switch from the flywheel housing.

INSTALLATION
1. Apply Pipe Sealant with Teflon D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent meeting Ford specifications WSK-M2G350-A2 and ESR-M18P7-A to the threads of the PNP switch.
2. Install the PNP switch on the flywheel housing. Tighten the PNP switch to 20-29 Nm (15-21 ft. lbs.).
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Connect the PNP switch electrical connector.
