Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Remove valve covers.
2. Remove rocker arm seat retaining bolts from cylinder heads and remove rocker arms.
INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate all rocker arms with Super Premium SAE 5W30 Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G.
2. For each valve, rotate crankshaft until valve tappet rests onto heel (base circle) of camshaft lobe. Position rocker arms over push rods. Install rocker arm seats. Tighten rocker arm seat retaining bolts to 5 Nm (44 in. lbs.) maximum.
CAUTION: Rocker arm seats must be fully seated in cylinder head and push rods must be seated in rocker arm sockets prior to final tightening or damage to engine may occur.
3. Final-tighten rocker arm seat bolts to 30-40 Nm (23-29 ft. lbs.).For final tightening, the camshaft may be in any position.
4. Install valve covers.
