Headlamp: Adjustments
GENERAL EQUIPMENTBeam setting equipment
ALIGNMENT
1. Before starting headlamp assembly adjustment:
^ Place the vehicle on a level surface.
^ Check for proper headlamp operation, and renew damaged components as necessary.
^ Check the tire inflation.
^ Check that no other load is in the vehicle other than a half tank of gas.
^ Check the function of the headlamp levelling system by operating it several times, then set the control to "0".
^ If the vehicle is equipped with air suspension, make sure the switch is on.
^ Set the measuring screen of the beam setting equipment to the following headlamp adjustment value (X): X=12 cm/10 m=0 degrees, 41=1,2 %.
2. Adjust the dipped beam.
^ Switch on the dipped beam.
1. Vertical alignment screw.
2. Horizontal alignment screw.
NOTE: On vehicles with a headlamp levelling system, always carry out the headlamp adjustment when the switch is set to position "0".
3. Vertical adjustment.
^ Adjust the dipped beam so that the light/dark boundary touches the horizontal line.
4. Horizontal adjustment.
^ Adjust the dipped beam so that the rising line of the light/dark boundary lies at the intersection of horizontal and the 15 degrees line.
NOTE: Some scattered light from the dipped beam may lie above the 15 degrees line.
ALIGN THE FRONT FOG LAMPS
1. Before starting headlamp assembly adjustment:
^ Ensure that the same requirements are met as for adjusting the headlamps.
^ Adjust the beam setting equipment to the fog lamp adjustment value (X): X = 22 cm/10 m = 1 degree, 16=2.2 %.
2. Adjust the front fog lamps.
^ Front fog lamp aligning screw.
3. Adjust the front fog lamps.
^ Adjust the front fog lamps so that the light/dark boundary touches the horizontal line.
