Fig. 19 Checking Control Cable Freeplay:






1. Ensure control cable freeplay is less than .39 inch, Fig. 19, adjusting as necessary.
2. Using a digital multimeter, J43029-A, or equivalent, measure resistance values between terminals 2 and 3, then measure resistance between terminals 1 and 3.
3. If resistance is not approximately 30 ohms between terminals 2 and 3, and approximately 68 ohms between terminals 1 and 3, replace actuator.
4. Disconnect actuator electrical connector.
5. Connect positive lead from battery to terminals 1 and 2 and the negative lead to terminal 3.
6. Using a hand held vacuum pump, J23738-A, or equivalent, slowly apply vacuum from 0 to 11.8 inches Hg, ensuring control cable can be pulled smoothly.
7. Disconnect terminal 1 and 2, then check control cable returns to original position, and vacuum returns to 0 inches Hg.
8. If results are not as indicated, replace actuator.
