Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

Fig. 5 Evaporator Core:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Discharge refrigeration system.
3. Remove and cap suction and liquid tube from evaporator case outlet and inlet fittings.
4. Remove grommets from inlet and outlet fittings.
5. Remove glove box compartment.
6. Disconnect wiring harness connectors.
7. Remove case attaching screws and remove evaporator case from behind instrument panel.
8. Separate upper and lower case halves, Fig. 5.
9. Disconnect liquid tube from inlet fitting of the expansion tube.
10. Remove packing and heat sensing tube from suction tube of evaporator.
11. Remove expansion valve.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
