Improved Actuator Rod


PROBLEM

Service Bulletin 90-032, "Front Door is Difficult to Open" addressed the problem of the actuator rod detaching from its clip. Repairs done before that bulletin's release may fail because the improved parts were not available. If it does fail, the customer may be inconvenienced and dissatisfied.


VEHICLES AFFECTED

All 1990 Accords that had front door actuator rod/clip repairs prior to the release of S/B 90-032 in November, 1990.


CORRECTIVE ACTION

In the interest of customer satisfaction, have the customer bring the car back so the improved parts can be installed.


^ From the supplied list, telephone or write to customers who may experience a repeat failure. (A sample customer letter is on the back of this S/B.) Explain the following:


^ Honda has developed improved parts and procedures since their car was originally repaired.

^ The first repair may not be 100% effective, and you would like them to bring their car in for installation of the improved parts.

^ To insure future reliability, the improved parts will be installed in both front doors. The work will be done free of charge.


^ When the customer brings the car in, use the parts and procedure given in S/B 90-032 to repair both front doors.





^ Center punch a completion mark above the first digit of the VIN on the engine compartment bulkhead.

Use the warranty claim information below only for repairs on vehicles brought back by customers contacted because of this service bulletin. All other claims for actuator rod/clip repairs must be submitted with the information on S/B 90-032.

Dear Accord Owner:

Our records show that we repaired the front door on your 1990 Accord when it would not open from the inside. The repair was done with the best parts and knowledge available at that time.


Since then, Honda has developed new repair parts and procedures. For that reason, we feel that our first repair may not be 100% effective, and your car could experience a repeat of the same problem.


To prevent this possible frustration, we would like you to bring your car in for installation of these improved parts in both front doors. This will be done at no charge to you. We value you as our customer and want to help ensure your continued satisfaction with your Accord.


Please call and make an appointment to bring your car in at a time convenient to your schedule. We realize bringing your Accord to the dealership is an inconvenience, no matter what the reason. We would not ask unless we felt it was important to you.
