Engine - Oil Change Causes DTC P1021 To Set

DTC P1021 Sets After Oil Change

SERVICE TIP:
A DTC P1021 [valve pause system (VPS) stuck on] can set the first time you start the engine after an oil and filter change. What causes this is the engine oil pressure sensor detecting low oil pressure to the valve train. This isn't a sign of a problem, just an annoyance. Once you clear the DTC, it won't come back because the oil filter is full again. To keep this from happening, fill the new oil filter with clean engine oil before you install it.
