INTRODUCTION
On some 2002 model year Q45 vehicles manufactured prior to March 5, 2001, refilling of the fuel tank may, on occasion, be slower than expected. When filling the fuel tank, the pump nozzle may shut off before the fuel tank is filled. If the pump nozzle shuts off repeatedly, it will result in a longer period of time to refuel the vehicle. To prevent this condition, Infiniti has initiated a Voluntary Service Campaign to replace the fuel tank on these vehicles. Use Infiniti Net to confirm if a specific vehicle is affected by this campaign (P1109).
IDENTIFICATION NUMBER
Infiniti has assigned identification number P1109 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign.
NUMBER OF VEHICLES POTENTIALLY AFFECTED
The number of vehicles potentially affected is approximately 2,100.
DEALER RESPONSIBILITY
It is the Infiniti retailer's responsibility to check Infiniti Net for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this Voluntary Service Campaign (P1109) that enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and vehicles in an Infiniti retailer's inventory.
CLIENT ASSISTANCE PROCESS
Checking Infiniti Net to determine if the client's vehicle is affected by the 2002 Q45 Fuel Tank Slow Fill Service Campaign (P1109) is an important first step. If the vehicle is affected by this campaign, the following steps should be taken to ensure the highest level of client satisfaction with their Infiniti vehicle:
^ Schedule a mutually agreeable appointment time with the client. Please allow at least 48 hours between the client contact and the scheduled appointment. This will provide enough time to ensure the required parts are available at your service location.
^ Inform your client that the repair will take less than two (2) hours to complete.
^ Inform your client that their vehicle should arrive at your service location with less than � tank of gas, if possible. Also inform your client that the fuel tank will be filled as part of the fuel tank replacement repair.
^ Offer a loaner vehicle for your client, if one is available.
^ If a loaner vehicle is not available, offer to arrange for a suitable car rental for your client. See Claims section for applicable Claims Information.
^ As an alternative to a loaner vehicle or a car rental, you may want to offer to pick up and return the vehicle for your client. In a limited number of cases, it may be beneficial to offer to flatbed the vehicle to and from your service location or to offer other services to your client to ensure the highest levels of client satisfaction.
