21. VEHICLE DOES NOT DECELERATE BY ENGINE BRAKE

SYMPTOM:
No engine brake is applied when the gear is shifted from the 2nd to the 1st gear.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. PNP SWITCH CIRCUIT
With CONSULT-II
Does "TCM INPUT SIGNALS" in "DATA MONITOR" show damage to PNP switch circuit?
No Tools
Does self-diagnosis show damage to PNP switch circuit?
Yes or No
Yes >> Check PNP switch circuit.
No >> GO TO 3.
2. CHECK SYMPTOM
Check again.
OK or NG
OK >> INSPECTION END
NG >> GO TO 3.
3. CHECK TCM INSPECTION
1. Perform TCM input/output signal inspection.
2. If NG, recheck TCM pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.
OK or NG?
OK >> INSPECTION END
NG >>
1. Repair or replace damaged parts.
2. Replace the transmission assembly. Refer to "Precautions for A/T Assembly Replacement".
