AFFECTED VEHICLES

^ 2006 Model Year Isuzu Ascender
Equipped with 4.2L 1-6 Engine (LL8 - VIN S) and registered in California

SERVICE INFORMATION CONDITION

The manufacturer General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall involving certain 2006 model year Isuzu Ascender vehicles equipped with a 4.2L 1-6 Engine (LL8 - VIN S). These vehicles were built with a condition where the Engine Control Module (ECM) may not be able to illuminate the malfunction indicator light for certain Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system short-to-power circuit faults. Revised diagnostic software and calibrations should be installed as soon as practical.

CORRECTION

Service facilities are to reprogram the ECM.

SERVICE FACILITY RESPONSIBILITY

Whenever a vehicle subject to this recall enters your vehicle inventory or is presented to the Service Facility for service work the Service Facility must take the necessary steps to ensure that this campaign has been completed prior to selling or releasing the vehicle. Service Facilities are to service all vehicles subject to this recall at no charge to customers regardless of mileage age of vehicle or ownership. Service Facilities are to inspect all eligible vehicles per the procedure.

It is the Service Facility's responsibility to validate the eligibility of each specific vehicle by using the Isuzu Communications System (ICS) website or by calling the Dealer Support Line.

Service Facilities will also be provided an Affected Vehicle Campaign Report (AW5123) via the Isuzu Communications System. (ICS) This report contains VIN and detailed owner information obtained from state motor vehicle registration records. The use of such motor vehicle registration data for any other purpose is not allowed and improper use may violate State and Federal laws.

CALIFORNIA VEHICLES

When a California emissions recall is completed by an Isuzu Service Facility the Service Facility must provide the vehicle owner a "Proof of Correction Certificate" which the owner may need to present to the California Department Of Motor Vehicles (DMV) when renewing their vehicle registration. Without this correction certificate the owner may be unable to renew their vehicle registration. As set forth in the sample owner notification letter below the owner will need to submit the correction certificate to the DMV only if the DMV requests it. Otherwise we recommend that owners keep the certificate for their records.

Additional Certificates can be obtained by emailing your request to warranty@isza.com.

OWNER NOTIFICATION

Isuzu Motors America LLC. will notify customers of this recall on their vehicle (see copy of customer letter included with this bulletin).

In order to ensure full protection under the emission warranty and the right to participate in future recalls the customer notification letter recommends that customers have their vehicles serviced as soon as possible. It also advises that failure to do so could legally be determined to be lack of proper maintenance. The vehicle may fail a state or local emission inspection test if the recall work is not completed.

VEHICLES INVOLVED

Involved are certain 2006 model year Isuzu Ascender vehicles equipped with a 4.2L I-6 Engine (LL8 - VIN S) registered in California.
