Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

1. Remove evaporator case as outlined under HEATER CORE Service and Repair
2. Remove dash panel seal, then the heat shield from bottom of evaporator case.
3. Remove six screws attaching two halves of case together.
4. Separate two halves of evaporator case, then remove evaporator core and mounting bracket.
5. Disconnect the suction accumulator/drier inlet from evaporator core outlet tube, Fig. 16.
6. Reverse procedure to install noting the following:
a. Install new O-rings to accumulator/drier.
b. Apply caulking cord No. D9AZ-19560-A or equivalent to case flange and around evaporator core tubes.
c. Install a new heat shield on bottom of evaporator case assembly with staples.
d. Rearm airbag as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
