SPECIAL TOOL(S)

REMOVAL

WARNING: SAFETY GLASSES AND GLOVES MUST BE WORN TO PREVENT PERSONAL INJURY.

1. Disconnect the connector.

2. Disconnect the connector.
3. Remove the package tray trim panel.
4. Lower the roof headlining near the back window glass and support it with a suitable support.

5. Cut the back window glass urethane using the Interior Cut-out Knife.

6. Remove the back window glass.

7. Trim the urethane on the pinch weld to within 1-2 mm (0.04 and 0.08 inch).

CAUTION: To avoid the formation of rust which would adversely affect windshield retention, take extreme care not to scratch or otherwise damage the pinch weld with tools.

NOTE: Clean around the pinch weld area to remove any dirt and debris that could contaminate the existing urethane once it is trimmed.

8. Inspect the pinch weld for damaged metal, rust or foreign material. Repair the pinch weld as necessary.

INSTALLATION

1. Apply Urethane Metal Primer ESB-M2G234-C or equivalent to any exposed or damaged metal on the pinch weld.

NOTE: A minimum of 10 minutes is required for the primer surface to dry.

2. Place the back window glass inside-up on a low, stable work surface.

NOTE: If a new back window is to be installed, attach the new moulding to the edge of the glass starting at the top center then working out then down the pillars and around the comers.

3. Clean the back window glass with a non-alcohol-based window cleaner.
4. Apply Urethane Glass Prep WSB-M5B280-C2 or equivalent to the inside edges of the back window glass.
- Apply the Urethane Glass Prep to the inside edges of the back window glass 21 mm (0.8 inch) wide along the top and the sides and 70 mm (2.75 inch) wide along the bottom.
- Wipe the back window glass where the Urethane Glass Prep has been applied.
- Repeat Substeps 1 and 2.

NOTE:
- Wipe off the Urethane Glass Prep immediately after application because it flash dries. Two coats of Urethane Glass Prep must be applied.
- Use a clean wool applicator to apply the Urethane Glass Prep.

5. Align the back window glass to the body.
- Place the back window glass on the pinch weld.
- Center the back window glass in the opening.
- Adjust the glass stops.
- Mark the back window glass alignment on the glass and the body with tape or a grease pencil.

6. Remove the back window glass.
7. Apply the Urethane Glass Primer to the inside edges of the back window 21 mm (0.8 inch) wide along the top and sides and 70 mm (2.75 inch) wide along the bottom.

NOTE:
- The Urethane Glass Primer must be mixed thoroughly for even pigmentation.
- The Urethane Glass Primer must cure for a minimum of five minutes.

8. Apply an even bead of Urethane Adhesive WSB-M2G316-B or equivalent around the entire sheet metal flange on top of the existing bed of urethane. The bead should be approximately 8 mm (0.3 inch) at the base and 14 mm (0.55 inch) high and triangular in shape.

NOTE: The back window glass must be installed before the urethane skins over.

9. Install the back window glass on the pinch weld. Align the back window glass to the body using the alignment marks.

CAUTION: When replacing urethane-installed parts, do not drive the vehicle until the urethane has cured. At temperature above 21°C (70°F) and relative humidities above 50%, adequate cure time is typically 24 hours (less at higher temperatures and higher humidities). See detailed instructions provided by the urethane manufacturer. Inadequate or improper curing can adversely affect the retention of the back window glass.

10. Install the headliner.
11. Install the package tray panel.
12. Connect the radio antenna lead.

13. Connect the defroster connectors.
14. Connect the mobile telephone antenna, if equipped.
15. Inspect the back window glass for air or water leaks through the urethane seal.
NOTE: On urethane installed glass, use only urethane products intended for the repair of air and water leaks.
