Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove the radiator upper sight shield.
2. Perform the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure.
3. Remove the screws and reposition the windshield washer fluid reservoir filler.
4. Remove the screws and remove the RH fender support brace.
5. Disconnect the forward condenser to evaporator tube spring lock coupling from the aft condenser to evaporator tube. See: Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Procedure.
6. Remove the two nuts retaining the A/C condenser core to the radiator.
7. Temporarily suspend the radiator from the upper radiator support.
8. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
9. Remove the radiator air deflector.
- Remove the pin-type retainers.
- Remove the screws and remove the radiator air deflector.
10. Remove the four bumper cover pin-type retainers.
11. Remove the screws and reposition the power steering/transmission fluid cooler.
12. Remove the bolts from the LH side of the lower radiator support.
13. Remove the bolts and remove the lower radiator support.
14. Disconnect the A/C compressor to condenser discharge line spring lock coupling from the A/C manifold and tube.
15. Lift the A/C condenser core off of the support brackets on the radiator.
16. Remove the A/C condenser core.
17. Disconnect and remove the A/C compressor to condenser discharge line and the forward condenser to evaporator tube.
INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate the new A/C condenser core with the correct amount of PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) or equivalent. See: Refrigerant Oil Addition.
2. Install the A/C compressor to condenser discharge line and the forward condenser to evaporator tube to the A/C condenser core.
- Lubricate the O-ring seal with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) or equivalent.
3. Install the A/C condenser core to the radiator.
4. Connect the A/C compressor to condenser discharge line spring lock coupling to the A/C manifold and tube.
5. Install the RH lower radiator support and bolts.
6. Install the LH lower radiator support and bolts.
7. Install the power steering/transaxle oil cooler.
8. Install the bumper cover pin-type retainers.
9. Install the radiator air deflector.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Remove the temporary radiator supports.
12. Install the two nuts retaining the A/C condenser core to the radiator.
13. Connect the forward condenser to evaporator tube spring lock coupling to the aft condenser to evaporator tube.
14. Install the RH fender support brace.
15. Install the windshield washer fluid reservoir filler.
16. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system.
17. Install the radiator upper sight shield.
