Oil Cooler: Service and Repair
Oil CoolerRemoval
1. CAUTION: The cooling system filling and bleeding procedure must be followed exactly or damage to the engine can occur.
Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the lower splash shield.
3. Drain the engine oil.
4. Remove and discard the oil filter.
5. Disconnect the coolant hoses.
6. Remove the oil cooler.
- Inspect the seal and install a new seal as necessary.
Installation
1. NOTE: Inspect the gasket and surfaces for contamination prior to installation.
Position the oil cooler and gasket and install the bolt.
- Rotate the cooler clockwise until the locating pin hits the stop.
2. Install the oil cooler hoses.
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
5. CAUTION: The cooling system filling and bleeding procedure must be followed exactly or damage to the engine can occur.
