Exhaust Manifold: Service and Repair

Engine Disassembly:

1. Remove secondary air pipes.
2. Unplug oxygen sensor connector.
3. Remove insulator assembly.
4. Remove nuts attaching front catalytic converter to manifold.
5. Remove exhaust pipe support brackets and mounting hardware as required to obtain enough clearance for manifold removal.
6. Remove nuts and bolts attaching manifold to cylinder head. Move manifold away from head and lift from engine when it has cleared the studs.
7. Reverse procedure to install manifold. Always install new gaskets and seals to prevent exhaust leaks. Torque manifold-to-head nuts and bolts to 15.9 - 21.0 ftlb (22 - 29 Nm).
