Engine starts but will not idle, stalls immediately after start-up. May or may not idle after re-start.

Base idle speed too low Check idle speed

Idle speed control valve defective Refer to Computers and
Control Systems


Unmeasured air (vacuum leaks) Inspect air flow meter,
vacuum hoses, intake air ducts
and manifold.

Evaporative system malfunction or leak See Evaporative Emission Control System


PCV system clogged, restricted or leaking See Positive Crankcase Ventilation System
