Oil Pan: Service and Repair

Fig. 62, Oil Pan Removal Sequence:





1. Remove components in the order shown in Fig. 62, noting the following:
a. Disconnect battery ground cable from battery, then install Engine Support Bar tool No. 49-G017-5A0 or equivalent to front engine hanger.

b. Remove crossmember retaining bolts and nuts shown in Fig. 63.

c. Insert a screwdriver or suitable tool only between the points shown in Fig. 64 to pry the pan loose.
2. Install components in the reverse order of removal steps shown in Fig. 62 to complete assembly, noting the following:
a. If the retaining bolts are to reused, remove the sealant from the bolt threads. Tightening bolts covered with old sealant may cause cracking inside the bolt holes.
b. Torque retaining bolts to 79-104 inch lbs.
