Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Testing and Inspection
NOTE: The idle air control (IAC) valve and the air valve are sub-components of the by-pass air control (BAC) valve assembly. Since the air valve and the idle air control valve operate together during cold engine operation, their function test has been combined as a BAC valve test.BAC VALVE INSPECTION
View: Jumper Wire Between Terminals (TEN) & (GND) and Tach. Connection:
Air Valve
1. Connect the data link connector terminals TEN and GND with a jumper wire.
2. Connect a tachometer to the data link connector terminal IG-.
3. Start the engine.
4. The idle speed should decrease gradually as the engine warms up.
View: Measuring Idle Air Control Valve Resistance:
Idle Air Control Valve
1. Disconnect the idle air control valve connector.
2. Measure the resistance of the idle air control valve with an ohmmeter
Resistance: 10.7 - 12.3 Ohms at 20°C (68°F)
3. If not as specified, replace the IAC valve.
