EGR Control Solenoid: Description and Operation
View: EGR Solenoid Valve (Vent) & EGR Solenoid Valve (Vacuum):
PURPOSE
The two EGR solenoid valves (vent & vacuum) provide for engine control module (ECM) regulation of the EGR system.

OPERATION
The two (duty cycle type) valves enable the ECM to make continuous EGR adjustments as required under a wide range of operating conditions. To improve driveability, EGR operation is canceled below coolant temperatures of 55°C (131°F). Warm engine operation is as described on the image chart.
