OIL PUMP REPLACEMENT

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS

All 1997 626 (4 cyl.) with production dates Oct. 5, 1996 - Dec. 9, 1996 and engine number FS200304 - FS209265.

DESCRIPTION





When replaceing the oil pump on the above models be sure to use an oil pump kit. This kit consists of an oil pump with offset dowel pins already installed. These offset pins allow the oil pump to align properly with the engine block.

Caution
^ Do not install a normal oil pump (one without offset dowel pins) in the above vehicles as this may result in engine damage.

Note
^ If an oil pump kit is mistakenly ordered for a vehicle not included in the above range, it can still be installed using the following procedure.

MODIFICATION PROCEDURE

1. Inspect engine number.

If the engine number is within the above range, there is no need to install standard dowel pins

If the engine number is not within the above range, proceed to STEP 2.





2. Remove the offset dowel pins from the pump housing and install the standard dowel pins as shown.

Caution
^ Be sure to press the new dowel pins straight into the oil pump to avoid possible damage.
