Valve Guide: Service and Repair

NOTE: Although the intake and exhaust valve guides are different, use the exhaust valve guide to replace the intake valve guide.





PROCEDURE
1. Remove the valve guide from the combustion chamber side by using the Special Service Tool (SST).






2. Assemble the SST so that depth L measures 18.3-18.9 mm (0.721-0.744 inch) as specified.
3. Tighten the nut.






4. Tap the valve guide in from the side opposite the combustion chamber until the SST contacts the cylinder head.
5. Verify that the valve guide height is within the specification. Height should measure 18.3-18.9 mm (0.721-0.744 inch).
6. If not, repeat steps 2-5.
