Steering Column: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Follow the removal steps outlined in the illustration, noting the following.

CAUTION: Do not try to remove the steering wheel by hitting the shaft with a hammer. The column will collapse.





2. Remove the steering wheel by using a suitable puller.

INSTALLATION
1. Follow removal steps in reverse order outlined in the illustration, noting the following.





2. Align the marks of the intermediate shaft and the collapsible shaft.
3. Tighten bolt A or B last.





4. Set the wheels in the straight-ahead position, and install the steering wheel.
