Disassembly Note

Oil Pump Cover (3)
Loosen the mounting bolts evenly in the pattern shown and remove the oil pump cover from the oil pump housing.

Inner Rotor, Outer Rotor (5, 6)
Mark the outer and inner rotors without scratching or denting them, than remove them from the oil pump housing.

Assembly Procedure
1. Measure the clearance between the end of the oil pump housing and the outer rotor and inner rotor at four places along their circumferences. Clearance standard is 0.02 - 0.04 mm (0.0008 - 0.0015 inch) and a maximum of 0.05 mm (0.0019 inch).
2. If not as specified, replace the oil pump.

3. Measure the clearance between the oil pump boss and the inner rotor. Oil clearance standard is 0.040 - 0.115 mm (0.00157 - 0.00453 inch) and a maximum of 0.125 mm (0.00492 inch).
4. If not within the specification, replace the oil pump.
5. Measure the spring free length.

6. If not as specified, replace the oil pump.

7. Measure the spool and check for wear. Outer diameter standard is 14.00 mm (0.551 inch) and a minimum of 13.98 mm (0.550 inch).
8. If not as specified, replace the oil pump.
9. Apply ATF to the spool.
10. Install the spool and spring into the oil pump housing.
11. Verify that the spool moves smoothly.
12. Install a new packing and the plug. Tighten to 32 - 47 Nm (24 - 34 ft. lbs.).
13. Apply ATF to the outer and inner rotors and oil pump flange.
14. Align the marks and install the outer and inner rotors.

15. Install the oil pump flange.
16. Mount the oil pump cover onto the oil pump housing.

17. Tighten the bolts evenly and gradually in the order shown to 8.1 - 10.9 Nm (72 - 97 inch lbs.).
18. Install the oil pump shaft and verify smooth oil pump operation.

CAUTION: Carefully install the seal rings without damaging them. If they are cut or scratched during installation, oil leakage will occur.

19. Apply ATF to new seal rings and install them onto the oil pump cover. Seal ring inner diameter is 39.45 mm (1.553 inch).
