Expansion Valve: Service and Repair
EXPANSION VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Discharge the refrigerant from the system. Refrigerant Recovery Refrigerant Charging
CAUTION:
- If moisture or foreign material enters the refrigeration cycle, cooling ability will be lowered and abnormal noise will occur. Always immediately plug all open fittings after removing any refrigeration cycle parts to keep moisture or foreign material out of the cycle.
3. Disconnect the cooler hose (LO) and cooler pipe. Do not allow compressor oil to spill. Service and Repair
4. Remove the following parts:
a. Front scuff plate (passenger-side) Front Scuff Plate Removal/Installation
b. Front side trim (passenger-side) Front Side Trim Removal/Installation
c. Side wall Side Wall Removal/Installation
d. Center console box Center Console Box Removal/Installation
e. Console panel Console Panel Removal/Installation
f. Center console Center Console Removal/Installation
g. Shift lever knob (MTX) Service and Repair
h. Selector lever knob (ATX) Automatic Transaxle Shift Mechanism Removal/Installation
i. Shift panel Shift Panel Removal/Installation
j. Front console Front Console Removal/Installation
k. Side panel Side Panel Removal/Installation
l. Glove compartment Service and Repair
m. Lower panel (passenger-side) Lower Panel Removal/Installation
5. Remove the adhesive polyurethane covering the evaporator pipe.
CAUTION:
- Being careful not to damage the adhesive sponge rubber, remove adhesive polyurethane completely.
6. Remove the bolt A and shift the evaporator pipe. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.
7. Remove the bolt B.
8. Remove the expansion valve. Do not allow compressor oil to spill.
Adhesive Polyurethane (3) Assembly Note
1. Wrap the low-pressure side of the evaporator pipe with insulator.
