Figure 9 - Radiator Coolant Tube Rerouting:
An interference condition may exist at the lower radiator coolant tube when a service replacement primary oil filter (FL-786A) is installed on vehicles built between 3/18/85 and 11/1/85. This condition can be serviced by loosening the front and rear radiator tube support bracket attaching screws and moving the tube toward the right hand side of the vehicle (Figure 9). This will allow sufficient clearance to service the filter using the procedure outlined in the 1985 Car Shop Manual, Section E, page 22-06-28. Reposition the lower radiator tube assembly and tighten the front support screw 6-9 ft.lbs., and the rear support screw 24-34 ft.lbs. Inspect the hoses attached to the lower radiator tube from the radiator and the water pump for a kinked or twisted condition. Loosen the hose clamps and position hoses to relieve any kinking or twisting. Tighten hose clamps and torque to 20-30 in.lbs.
