Key Interlock Check
KEY INTERLOCK MECHANISM CHECK1. Perform the following inspection.
2. When any of the above key interlock checks fail the inspection procedure, adjust the key interlock cable using the following procedure.
1) Remove the floor console
2) Shift the selector lever to the "P" position.
3) Turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
4) Disconnect the key interlock cable from the shift lock cable retaining shaft on the lock cam. Loosen the lock nut on the key interlock cable housing mounting bracket.
Tightening torque: 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.)
5) Push the key interlock cable gently into the key interlock cable housing until the cable movement stops and the cable end eye is aligned with the lock cam shaft. Tighten the lock nut. Snap the cable end eye onto the lock cam shaft.
6) After adjusting, recheck the key interlock cable operation. Replace the key interlock cable if it does not operate properly.
7) Install the floor console.
