A/C Compressor Clutch Test
A/C Compressor Control Test:
1. With the connector removed from the A/C-Cut Out Relay, connect a fused jumper between the terminals given in the table. Turn the A/C Function Selector to NORM and the Ignition Switch to RUN but do not start the engine.
^ If the A/C Compressor Clutch engages (loud click), the clutch and circuits from the A/C Control Assembly are good. Proceed to ECM Compressor Control Tests. ECM Compressor Control Test
^ If the clutch does not engage, proceed to Step 2.
^ If Battery voltage is not present at terminal A, remove the connector from the Power Steering Idle Speed Switch and connect a fused jumper between the two terminals of the connector.
- If Battery voltage is now present at terminal A, replace the Power Steering Idle Speed Switch.
- If Battery voltage is not present, check Fuse 13.
- If the fuse is good, check the PPL (901) wire and PNK/BLK (639) wire for an open.
^ If Battery voltage is not at terminal B, proceed to A/C Compressor Control Test. ECM Compressor Control Test
A/C Compressor Clutch Connector Test.:
2. Leave the jumper in place on the relay and measure the voltage to ground at the A/C Compressor Clutch with the clutch connector still connected.
^ If voltage is incorrect at terminal A, remove the connector from the A/C High Pressure Cut-Off Switch and connect a fixed jumper between terminals A and B. If Compressor Clutch engages, replace the A/C High Pressure Cut-Off Switch.
3. Check the BLK/WHT (153) wire and BLK (150) wire for an open and that ground G10O is clean and tight.
^ If Battery voltage is not present at terminal B, repair open in DK GRN (959) wire.
