Installation


INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Push sleeves inward (away from inboard shoe and lining).

Caliper Attachment:






Suspending Caliper:







NOTE: In the next step, take care not to bang bolt boots, closest to the rotor, against the mounting bracket arm. This could cut or tear the boots.

2. Caliper over rotor in mounting bracket. Reconnect brake hose bracket to suspension.

Torque to 18 ft.lbs. (24 Nm)

3. Mounting bolts. Using J 36581 Torque Wrench Adapter.

Torque to 79 ft.lbs. (107 Nm)

4. Bracket and bolt.

Torque to 32 ft.lbs. (44 Nm)

5. Inlet fitting, if removed or disturbed using two new copper washers.

Torque to 32 ft.lbs. (44 Nm)

CLEAN: Disconnect nut, lever and lever seal. Clean contamination from caliper surface in area of lever seal and around actuator screw.

6. Lubricated lever seal with sealing bead against caliper housing.
7. Lever on actuator screw hex with lever pointing down.

NOTE: In the next step, hold lever back against stop on caliper while tightening nut. This will prevent accidental application of the parking brake mechanism.

8. Nut.

Torque to 35 ft.lbs. (47 Nm)

9. Return spring.

Parking Brake Cable Attachment:






10. Parking brake cable.
11. Wheels and tires, aligning previous marks.
a. Remove wheel nuts securing rotor to hub.
b. Lower car.
c. Torque wheel nuts.
12. Fill master cylinder to proper level with clean brake fluid.
a. Bleed caliper if inlet fitting was removed.
b. Recheck fluid level.
