Campaign - Intake Manifold Gasket Replacement: Overview

NUMBER: 93-C-08

CORP. REF. NO.: 931201

DATE: December 1993

SECTION: 6A2, 6C

SUBJECT:
INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET

MODEL:
1993 CUTLASS CIERA
WITH THE 2.2L (VIN 4)
ENGINE

YEAR:
1993

CONDITION

General Motors has determined that certain 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera model vehicles equipped with the 2.2L (RPO LN2, VIN 4) engine may have been assembled with an intake manifold gasket (between the intake manifold and the cylinder head) that can move out of position due to engine thermal cycling. This may result in rough idling, check engine lamp coming on, stalling and/or hesitation on acceleration.

To prevent this condition from occurring, retailers are to replace the intake manifold gasket on involved vehicles.

VEHICLES INVOLVED

Certain 1993 Cutlass Ciera model vehicles equipped with the 2.2L (RPO LN2, VIN 4) engine within the VIN breakpoints as shown.

All vehicles which are listed on the retailers campaign printout will require correction as outlined in the service procedure section of this bulletin. Any vehicles recently repaired using the correct Lower Intake Manifold Gasket (P/N 24574409), verified by a repair order, may be labeled and returned to the customer without further repair.

Should a question arise concerning the campaign involvement of a specific vehicle(s) within the breakpoints listed above, retailers should access the VISS (Vehicle Information Service System) for verification.

OWNER NOTIFICATION

Owners will be notified of this recall on their vehicles by Oldsmobile Division (see copy of the owner letter included with this bulletin).
