Transmission Mount: Service and Repair
TRANSAXLE MOUNT
Transaxle Mount:
Remove or Disconnect
1. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
2. Left front tire and wheel.
3. Transaxle mount nuts.
4. Raise powertrain far enough to remove mount using a jackstand.
Install or Connect
1. Mount
2. Lower powertrain onto mount.
3. Transaxie mount nuts.
Tighten
^ Upper nuts to 53 N.m (39 lb. ft.).
^ Lower nuts to 44 N.m (32 lb. ft.).
4. Remove jackstand.
5. Left front tire and wheel.
6. Lower vehicle.
TRANSAXLE BRACKET
Tool Required: J 28467-A Engine Support Fixture
Remove or Disconnect
1. Air cleaner and duct.
2. Install engine support fixture. (J 28467-A)
3. Loosen nut for strut bracket.
4. Torque strut bolt.
5. Upper transaxle bracket bolt.
6. Transaxle bracket nut.
7. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
8. Left front tire and wheel.
9. Left lower engine splash shield.
10. Pinch bolt from intermediate shaft.
11. Transaxle bracket to mount nuts.
12. Frame to transaxie mount nuts.
13. Left side bolt and nut from ball joint.
14. Install jackstands.
15. Right side frame bolts.
16. Left side frame bolts.
17. Lower frame.
18. Transaxle mount.
19. Transaxle oil cooler lines to transaxle.
20. Transaxle bracket nut, bolts and bracket.
Install or Connect
1. Transaxle bracket, nuts and bolts.
Tighten
^ Rear bolt/screw, 12mm, to 87 N.m (64 lb. ft.).
^ Remaining bolts/screws, 10mm, to 55 N.m (41 lb. ft.).
^ Nut to 32 nm (24 lb. ft.).
2. Transaxle oil cooler lines to transaxle.
3. Transaxle mount and nuts. Refer to "Transaxie Mount".
4. Raise frame.
5. New left side frame bolts.
6. New right side frame bolts.
NOTICE: Whenever frame to body bolts are loosened or removed, they should be replaced with new parts and tightened to 140 Nm (103 lb. ft.). Failure to replace frame to body bolts may result in damage to the frame, powertrain or suspension.
7. Remove jackstands.
8. Left side bolt and nut to ball joint.
9. Frame to transaxle mount nuts.
10. Transaxle bracket to mount nuts.
11. Pinch bolt to intermediate shaft.
12. Left lower engine splash shield.
13. Left front tire and wheel.
14. Lower vehicle.
15. Upper transaxle bracket nut.
16. Upper transaxle bracket bolt.
17. Torque strut bolt.
18. Strut bracket nut.
19. Remove engine support fixture.
20. Air cleaner and duct.
TRANSAXLE BRACE
Remove or Disconnect
1. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
2. Right front tire and wheel.
3. Right front bumper fascia splash shield.
4. Bolts/screws.
5. Transaxle brace.
Install or Connect
1. Position transaxle brace to transaxle and engine.
Important: Do not tighten transaxle brace bolts/screws out of sequence. Side load condition to transaxle assembly may occur.
2. Hand start bolts/screws to engine and transaxle.
3. Bolts/screws to engine.
Tighten: Bolts/screws to 43 N.m (32 lb. ft.).
4. Bolts/screws to transaxle.
Tighten: Bolts/screws to 43 N.m (32 lb. ft.).
5. Right front burnper fascia splash shield.
6. Right front tire and wheel.
7. Lower vehicle.
