Accelerator Pedal: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the left closeout/insulator panel.
2. Remove the accelerator controls cable (5) from accelerator controls pedal (1).
3. Remove the bolt (3) and stud (2) holding the accelerator controls pedal to the bulkhead (4).
4. Remove the accelerator controls pedal (1) from the bulkhead (4).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the accelerator controls pedal (1) to the bulkhead (4).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the bolt (3) and stud (2) holding the accelerator controls pedal to the bulkhead (4).

Tighten
Tighten the stud and bolt to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

3. Install the accelerator controls cable (5) to accelerator controls pedal (1).

IMPORTANT: The throttle should operate freely without binding between full closed and wide open throttle.

4. Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator controls pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator controls pedal.
5. Install the left closeout/insulator panel.
