Wiper Motor: Testing and Inspection

Fig. 13 Liftgate Wiper Motor Cover Removal:

1. Remove wiper motor plastic cover from liftgate, then disconnect feed wire connector from wiper motor.
2. Place ignition switch in the On position and check for battery voltage at blue wire.
3. With ignition switch and wiper switch in the On position, check for battery voltage at blue and brown wires.

4. If battery voltage is not obtained in steps 2 and 3, check circuit breaker, wiper switch and wiring.

5. If battery voltage is obtained in steps 2 and 3, apply 12 volts to terminal on switch plate without wire. If motor operates and driveshaft rotates, replace switch plate. If motor does not operate, replace motor assembly.
6. If motor operates but driveshaft does not rotate, remove wiper motor cover and inspect drive gear, driveshaft and drive link and repair as necessary.
