Heater Control Cable - Adjustment Procedure

SUBJECT: Heater Control Cable Adjustment Procedure - Service Manual Supplement

DISCUSSION:

Adjustment procedures have been developed for adjusting the inside/outside air changeover cable on the listed models. One procedure pertains to the Colt, Laser, and Stealth models, the second procedure pertains to the Vista and the third addresses the Ram 50. This information is not in the 1991 Service Manuals but should be noted for future reference in each of the applicable 1991 Service Manuals.

COLT, LASER AND STEALTH MODELS


1. Set the inside/outside air control knob or lever to the inside air circulation position.

2. Move the inside/outside air control damper lever in the direction of the arrow until it contacts the stop (Figure 1).

3. Connect the inner wire of the inside/outside air control cable to the damper lever.

4. While pulling the outer cable of the inside/outside air changeover cable lightly toward the heater control assembly, insert the outer cable in the clamp and secure.

5. After operating the inside/outside control knob or lever two to three times, set it to the inside air circulation position. When doing this, make sure that the damper lever is in contact with the stop. If the damper lever is not in contact with the stop, repeat the adjustment.

6. Set the inside/outside air changeover lever to the inside air circulation position to make sure that the pin of the damper lever is within the range B shown in the illustration. If the pin is not within the range B, repeat the adjustment procedure.

VISTA MODELS


1. Set the inside/outside air changeover control knob or lever to the inside air circulation position.

2. Turn the inside/outside changeover damper lever in the direction of the arrow to make contact with the arrow (See Figure 2).

3. Connect the inner wire of the inside/outside changeover cable to the damper lever.

4. While pulling the outer cable of the inside/outside air changeover cable lightly towards the heater control assembly, insert the outer cable in the clamp and secure.

5. After operating the inside/outside changeover knob or lever two or three times, set it to the inside air circulation position. When doing this, make sure that the damper is in contact with the stopper, if not, repeat the adjustment procedure.

RAM 50 MODELS


1. Set the inside/outside air changeover knob or lever to the inside air circulation position.

2. Turn the inside/outside air changeover damper lever in the direction of the arrow to achieve its contact to the stopper (Figure 3).

3. Connect the inner wire of the inside/outside air changeover cable to the damper lever.

4. While pulling the outer cable of the inside/outside air changeover cable lightly toward the heater control assembly, insert the outer cable in the clamp and secure.

5. After operating the inside/outside changeover knob or lever two or three times, set it to the inside air circulation position. When doing this, make sure that the damper is in contact with the stopper, if not, repeat the adjustment procedure.
