CLUTCH CHATTER WITH 2.5L L4 AND
Subject: MANUAL TRANSMISSION

1982-83 FIREBIRD

Some 1982-83 Firebirds equipped with the 2.5L L4 engine and either the Muncie 4-speed or Borg-Warner 5-speed manual transmission may exhibit an objectionable driveline disturbance due to clutch chatter. This chatter oriented condition can be corrected by performing the procedures outlined in Service Bulletin 83-T-41 and replacing the clutch driven plate (disc) assembly with the appropriate driven plate assembly (listed below) made with a non-asbestos facing material:
