Disc Brake, Rear - Moan Under Light Application
Number 86-5-18 Date 2/87Subject: REAR DISC BRAKE MOAN
1986 6000 STE MODELS
Rear Brake Assembly:
Some vehicles may develop a moaning noise under light service brake application at low speeds (usually below 35 MPH). The moan is a low frequency noise that may sound like a growl and be associated with a vibration felt in the vehicle body. This noise should not be confused with brake squeal which is high pitched. The noise does not indicate a functional problem and may go away with time and mileage..
If the moan noise persists, a dampener can be added to the park brake actuator levers (refer to Illustration). If the actuator levers do not have predrilled holes, replace them with new levers. Use service manual instruction for park brake actuator lever removal and assembly.
