Number 87-8-1 Date 9/86Subject: NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION OR POWER LOSS
1987 6000 STE
Whenever there is a reference to disconnect a negative battery cable (or pull a fuse, etc.), service technicians should refer to the NOTICE at the beginning of Section 9A of the 1987 6000 Service Manual to reactivate the anti-theft radio.
Following is the actual notice from the 1987 Service Manual:
NOTICE: Whenever a battery cable is disconnected (or 12 volt power is lost), the STE Delco-Loc radio will be inoperative when 12 volts is reapplied. "LOC" will appear on the graphic display. Turn ignition and radio ON, then press the MUTE button on the steering wheel control to reactivate the radio.
