Starter Motor: Service and Repair



Remove or Disconnect

1. Loosen air inlet hose clamp at throttle body.
2. Air cleaner assembly.
3. Negative battery cable.
4. Coolant reservoir hose at radiator filler neck and plug with suitable stopper.
5. Coolant reservoir bolts.
6. Intake manifold brace bolts.
7. Place drain pan under vehicle.
8. Oil filter.
9. Starter motor attaching bolts.
10. Starter motor and lower onto frame member.
11. Starter motor wiring.
12. Starter motor.

Install or Connect

1. Position starter motor to vehicle.
2. Starter motor wiring.
3. Starter motor to engine.
4. Strarter motor attaching bolts.

Tighten

^ Bolts to 43 N.m (32 lb. ft.)

5. Oil filter.
6. Intake manifold brace.
7. Coolant reservoir and hose.
8. Negative battery cable.
9. Air cleaner assembly.
10. Air inlet hose clamp at throttle body.


Inspect

^ Engine oil level and adjust as necessary

Remove or Disconnect

2. Air cleaner assembly.
3. Negative battery cable.
4. Coolant reservoir hose at radiator filler neck and plug with suitable stopper.
5. Coolant reservoir bolts.
6. Intake manifold brace bolts.
7. Place drain pan under vehicle.
8. Oil filter.
9. Starter motor attaching bolts.
10. Starter motor and lower onto frame member.
11. Starter motor wiring.
12. Starter motor.

Install or Connect

1. Position starter motor to vehicle.
2. Starter motor wiring.
3. Starter motor to engine.
4. Starter motor attaching bolts.

Tighten

^ Bolts to 43 N.m (32 lb. ft.)

5. Oil filter.
6. Intake manifold brace.
7. Coolant reservoir and hose.
8. Negative battery cable.
9. Air cleaner assembly.
10. Air inlet hose clamp at throttle body.

Inspect

^ Engine oil level and adjust as necessary.
