Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Catalyst Configuration:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove exhaust crossover pipe nuts.
3. Remove exhaust crossover pipe from studs on manifold assembly.
4. Remove exhaust pipe bolts/screws.
5. Catalytic converter assembly from exhaust pipe assembly.
6. Remove catalytic converter hanger bolts/screws.
7. Remove converter assembly.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Install converter assembly to hanger assembly.
2. Catalytic converter hanger bolts/screws.

Tighten
^Catalytic converter hanger bolts/screws to 41 Nm (30 lb. ft.).

3. Exhaust pipe assembly to catalytic converter assembly.
4. Exhaust pipe bolts/screws.

Tighten
^Exhaust pipe bolts/screws to 20 Nm (15 lb. ft.).

5. Exhaust crossover pipe to studs on exhaust manifold assembly.
6. Exhaust crossover pipe nuts.

Tighten
^Exhaust crossover pipe nuts to 35 Nm (26 lb. ft.).

7. Lower vehicle.
