Backing Plate: Service and Repair
Remove or Disconnect1. Wheel cylinder. Refer to Wheel Cylinder. Service and Repair
Removing Parking Brake Cable From Backing Plate:
2. Parking brake cable from brake backing plate by squeezing retainer with pliers .
3. Wheel bearing (if equipped with drum without hub).
Brake Backing Plate:
4. Brake backing plate from suspension knuckle by removing four mounting bolts.
Brake Backing Plate/Spindle (Sectional View):
Install or Connect
1. Apply GM P/N 12346240, or equivalent, to the mating surfaces of the brake backing plate and the suspension knuckle.
2. Brake backing plate to knuckle; secure with four bolts.
^ Tighten brake backing plate mounting bolts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
3. Wheel bearing (if required). Refer to Rear Suspension.
4. Parking brake cable to brake backing plate; secure with retainer.
5. Wheel cylinder. Refer to Wheel Cylinder.
6. Bleed brakes. Refer to Hydraulic System, Service and Repair. Manuel Bleeding
