Hydraulic Modulator Assembly-Replacement

Hydraulic Modulator:






CAUTION:To help avoid personal injury due to a retained load on the hydraulic modulator/motor pack assembly, and to prevent setting Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), the Gear Tension Relief function of the Tech 2 scan tool must be performed prior to removal of the hydraulic modulator.

1. Using the Tech 2 scan tool, perform the Gear Tension Relief sequence.
2. Negative (-) battery cable. Refer to Battery.
3. Motor pack, ABS solenoids and shuttle switch electrical connectors.
4. Place a shop towel beneath the hydraulic modulator brake pipes to prevent brake fluid from contaminating the motor pack or the electrical connectors.

Removing Brake Pipes From Hydraulic Modulator:




Master Cylinder Bolts:






5. Six brake pipes from hydraulic modulator and shuttle valve.
6. Plug brake pipes to prevent loss or contamination of brake fluid.

Hydraulic Modulator:






7. Three bolts and hydraulic modulator/motor pack assembly from vehicle.

Install or Connect
1. Hydraulic modulator/motor pack assembly to vehicle; secure with three bolts.

^ Tighten Hydraulic modulator/motor pack assembly bolts to 5.4 Nm (48 inch lbs.).

2. Remove plugs from brake pipes and connect to hydraulic modulator; secure each brake pipe with one pipe nut.

^ Tighten Brake pipe nuts to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).

3. Motor pack, ABS solenoids and shuttle valve electrical connectors.
4. Negative (-) Battery cable.
5. Bleed brake system. Refer to Brake Bleeding Procedure.
