High Pressure Safety Valve HVAC: Service and Repair

Pressure Relief Valve:

Inspect

^ Replace the pressure relief valve if oil leakage on or around it is observed.

Remove or Disconnect

1. Discharge and recover refrigerant. Refer to Discharging, Adding Oil, Evacuating and Charging the Refrigeration System.
2. Pressure relief valve from compressor.
3. Discard pressure relief valve and O-ring.

Install or Connect

1. Lubricate O-ring with PAG oil and install on pressure relief valve.
2. Pressure relief valve to compressor.

Tighten

^ Pressure relief valve to 12-18 N.m. (106.2 lb. in.-13 lb. ft.)

3. Evacuate and recharge air conditioning system. Refer to Discharging, Adding Oil, Evacuating and Charging the Refrigeration System.
4. Operate A/C system and check for refrigerant leaks. Refer to Refrigerant Leak Testing.
