G. Extension Housing
1. Clean the rear extension housing in a suitable solvent. Air dry the housing.
2. Inspect the extension housing for the following conditions:
^ Cracks
^ Scratches
^ Damaged threads
^ Burrs
^ Nicked mounting surfaces
^ Damaged sealing surfaces
^ Damaged front or rear bearing bores
3. Replace a cracked housing.
4. Clean up damaged threads with the correct size tap.
5. Inspect the machined mating surfaces for flatness. Check the mating surfaces with a straight edge.
6. Use a fine mill file to dress minor scratches or burrs.
7. Inspect the detent guide plate. Look for worn edges or grooves where the detent ball and the lug travel.
8. Replace the extension housing bushing. Refer to Extension Housing Disassemble and to Extension Housing Assemble.
