Radiator Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Recover air conditioning system.
3. Drain the engine coolant.
4. Remove the radiator inlet hose.
5. Remove the radiator outlet hose.





6. Remove the evaporator tube bolt.
7. Remove the evaporator tube from the condenser.





8. Remove the upper oil cooler line from the radiator.
9. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
10. Remove the lower oil cooler line from the radiator.





11. Remove the air conditioning condenser tube nut.
12. Remove the condenser tube from the condenser.
13. Lower the vehicle.





14. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir hose from the radiator.
15. Remove the electric engine coolant fans.
16. Remove the coolant level sensor, if equipped with a 5.7L engine.





17. Remove the radiator from the vehicle.





18. Remove the condenser from the radiator.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the condenser to the radiator.





2. Install the radiator to the vehicle.
3. Install the coolant level sensor, if equipped with a 5.7L engine
4. Install the electric engine coolant fans.





5. Install the coolant recovery reservoir hose to the radiator.
6. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





7. Install the condenser tube to the condenser.
8. Install the condenser tube nut.
^ Tighten the A/C condenser tube nut to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).





9. Install the lower oil cooler line to the radiator.
^ Tighten the lower oil cooler line to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Install the upper oil cooler line to the radiator.
^ Tighten the upper oil cooler line to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).





12. Install evaporator tube to the condenser.
13. Install the evaporator tube bolt.
^ Tighten the evaporator tube bolt to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
14. Install the radiator outlet hose.
15. Install the radiator inlet hose.
16. Drain the engine coolant.
17. Recharge the air conditioning system.





18. Connect the negative battery cable.
