Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure1. Remove the battery tray.
2. Disconnect the electrical connections from the solenoid and the motorpack.
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution In Service Precautions.
Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Damage to Electrical Connections Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Disconnect the brake pipes from the brake modulator assembly.
4. Disconnect the brake pipes (1,2) from the proportioning valve (3).
5. Remove the brake modulator assembly. Refer to Brake Modulator Assembly Replacement.
Important: The proportioning valve gasket (3) between the proportioning valve and the hydraulic modulator assembly (4) must be replaced whenever these components are separated.
6. Remove the brake proportioning valve (1) from the brake modulator assembly (4).
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the brake proportioning valve (2) to the brake modulator assembly (4) using a new gasket.
^ Tighten bolts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
2. Install the brake modulator assembly. Refer to Brake Modulator Assembly Replacement.
3. Connect the brake pipes to the proportioning valve.
4. Connect the brake pipes to the brake modulator assembly.
5. Connect the electrical connections to the solenoid and the motorpack.
6. Install the battery tray.
7. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
