Compressor Hose Assembly Replacement

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
2. Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt from the accumulator.
3. Discard the O-ring.




4. Remove the negative battery cable nut and cable from the engine block.
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.




6. Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt from the A/C compressor.
7. Discard the sealing washers.




8. Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly nut from the condenser.
9. Discard the O-ring.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




Lightly coat the O-rings with a mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
1. Install the A/C compressor hose assembly to the vehicle.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
3. Install a new O-ring.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the condenser.

Tighten
Tighten the A/C compressor hose assembly nut to the condenser to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).




5. Install the new sealing washers.
6. Install the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).

7. Lower the vehicle.




8. Install the negative battery cable and nut to the engine block.

Tighten
Tighten the negative battery cable nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




9. Install a new O-ring.
10. Install the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt to the accumulator.

Tighten
Tighten the A/C compressor hose assembly bolt at the accumulator to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

11. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
12. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A.
