This is to notify you of a pre-delivery/recall campaign involving 1986 model Porsches 944 and 944 Turbos. The protective sleeve covering the fuel return hose, between the pressure regulator and fuel return pipe, was shortened by approx. 25 mm at the beginning of the 1986 model year to facilitate installation on the assembly line. In some instances, the exposed portion of the hose between the connection to the pressure regulator and the protective sleeve has become kinked due to the influence of engine compartment heat and/or the routing of the hose. In some cases, this resulted in restriction and damage to the fuel return hose in the exposed area. When this occurs, it could lead to fuel leakage and cause an engine compartment fire.

Customer Notification
Porsche Cars North America will notify all known owners directly by first class mail during the week of June 30, 1986 as per the attached copy of notification.
For those vehicles which are in dealer's inventory or concerning which the sales information is not on our files, the notification will be addressed to the dealer. If the vehicle is in stock, the campaign should be performed without delay. If the vehicle has been retailed or dealer swapped, the dealer is to make the necessary arrangements to have the customer or swapping dealer contacted and the campaign performed.

Parts Requirements
The parts required to perform this recall campaign are assembled in a kit form. The kit consists of a return hose with a pre-formed protective sleeve, two clamps and a plastic strap.
