Auxiliary Water Pump: Service and Repair

Preliminary work





Overview diagram

1. Remove left front wheel. -> 440519 Removing and installing wheel - section on "Removing" Removal and Replacement
2. Remove left front wheel housing liner. -> 505619 Removing and installing front wheel housing liner - section on "Removing" Service and Repair

Removing circulating pump for auxiliary heater

NOTICE

Danger of scalding

- Coolant can be very hot.
- Coolant may be pressurised.

-> Perform the removal only once the cooling system has cooled down.
-> By carefully opening the catch on the reservoir, make sure that the cooling system is depressurised.

1. Pinch off both hoses -1- and -2- using a suitable tool.

NOTICE

Danger of slipping due to emerging coolant

- The emerging coolant will make the floor of the workshop slippery and may cause people to slip and fall over.

-> Collect emerging coolant in a suitable pan.

2. Detach return hose -1- ().

2.1. Press spring band clamp together -A- and pull it back.
2.2. Pull off return hose -B-.
3. Release electric plug connection -1- ( -a- ) and pull it off -A-.

4. Unscrew fastening screw -1-.





Detaching circulating pump from feed hose

NOTICE

Danger of slipping due to emerging coolant

- The emerging coolant will make the floor of the workshop slippery and may cause people to slip and fall over.

-> Collect emerging coolant in a suitable pan.

5. Detach circulating pump -3- from feed hose -2- ().
5.1. Press spring band clamp together and pull it back -A-.
5.2. Detach circulating pump -3- from feed hose -2- ( -B- ).

Installing circulating pump for auxiliary heater

1. Place circulating pump in position.

1.1. Insert connection piece of feed into the feed hose -2-.
1.2. Align bores for the fastening screw -1-.
2. Tighten fastening screw -1-.
3. Fit return hose -B-.

4. Press spring band clamps together and position on the marking -A-.
5. Plug in the electric plug connection -1- until it engages securely -A-.

6. Remove clamps from the coolant hoses.

Subsequent work

1. Install left front wheel housing liner. -> 505619 Removing and installing front wheel housing liner - section on "Installing" Service and Repair
2. Install left front wheel. -> 440519 Removing and installing wheel - section on "Removing" Removal and Replacement
3. Fill in coolant and bleed cooling system. -> 193817 Draining and refilling coolant Service and Repair
