Fig. 1 Exploded View Of Front Disc Brake Caliper:
1. Remove caliper, clean housing and mount in vise.
2. Remove piston, Fig. 1, by applying compressed air through brake line hole, using a piece of wood as a stop to prevent piston from being damaged.
3. Remove dust cover, then remove piston seal from bore.
4. Wash parts in solvent, rinse with clean brake fluid and blow dry with compressed air. Wipe piston clean for inspection, and if found defective, replace as an assembly.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Prior to installing piston seal, lubricate seal with grease included in seal kit and pack dust cover with grease.
b. Ensure dust cover is correctly installed in groove in cylinder.
c. Install piston, taking care not to damage dust cover.
d. Install caliper and bleed brake system.
